Gateway to the Stars Stargazing Series under the Gateway Arch
Highlights Space Exploration and Children’s Education in July and August
WHAT: The National Park Service, in partnership with the St. Louis Astronomical Society, invites visitors of all ages for a different take on astronomy with Gateway to the Stars, a free stargazing series under the Gateway Arch. This program promotes the exploration of St. Louis’ star-studded night sky and features:
Astronaut-Explorers: Friday, July 11; 8 pm
Meet in the Odyssey Theater inside the Arch Visitor Center to hear Washington University scientist Ryan Clegg present “Astronaut-Explorers” and discuss the future of human spaceflight. Pending clear skies, stargazing led by the St. Louis Astronomical Society will follow the discussion.
Junior Ranger Night Explorer Workshop: Friday, August 8; 8 pm
Children ages 5 through 12 are invited to Junior Ranger Night Explorer Workshop, led by Michael Malolepszy of the St. Louis Astronomical Society. After a special program in the Odyssey Theater inside the Arch Visitor Center, free telescope viewing will follow on the Arch grounds, weather permitting. Kids will earn a special Junior Ranger patch upon successful competition of the evening’s events.
