  • Visiting the Gateway Arch: Enter the monument through the Gateway Arch Visitor Center, which faces Fourth Street and the Old Courthouse. The Gateway Arch legs are exits only. Please allow at least 30 minutes to go through security. Tickets sell out early and often, advance reservations are strongly recommended. Pending availability, additional tickets may be available for same-day purchase beginning at 9am each day through our website, call center, and ticket center at the Gateway Arch. Same-day ticket availability is not guaranteed and sells out early and often.

Event Series Event Series: Gateway to the Stars – FREE

Gateway to the Stars – FREE

Learn about astronomy and space this summer with the National Park Service (NPS). NPS with its partners, the St. Louis Astronomical Society and Dark Sky Missouri will host Gateway Arch National Park’s Gateway to the Stars program on select dates beginning Friday, May 26, 2023, through Friday, October 27, 2023.

Each Gateway to the Stars program features a presentation by a guest speaker, followed by telescope viewing of the night sky (weather permitting). The programs will be held inside the Arch Visitor Center or outside on the West Entrance Plaza beginning at 7 p.m. The September 22, 2023, and October 27, 2023, programs will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Roadmap to the Night Sky
When: Friday, July 28; 7 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
What: Would you like to learn how to find your way around the night sky?   Our Sky Ranger will provide a tour, focusing on bright stars, constellations, sky lore, the Perseid Meteor Shower, and other celestial events.   There will also be a preview of the solar eclipses coming in October and next April.  This program will be held rain or shine in the Education Classroom inside the Gateway Arch Visitor Center at 7 pm.   Weather permitting, free telescope viewing will be held on the Arch Entrance Plaza following this talk.

Kids Explorer Night
When: Friday, August 25, 2023; 7 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
What: This annual event features an opportunity for children 5-12 to build and bring home their own working Galileoscope and to earn the special Junior Ranger Night Explorer patch. Space is limited for the Galileoscope workshop. Email [email protected] or call 314.655.1704 for information and to reserve your kids’ spot for the Galileoscope workshop.

Autumn Adventure
When: Friday, September 22, 2023; 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
What: Learn about this fall’s sky events, including the October 14 eclipse, and take a tour of the autumn night sky.

Ghosts of the Arch Grounds
When: Friday, October 27, 2023; 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
What: This beloved program returns as a park ranger discusses the fortunes and misfortunes of people such as Thomas Targee and Kenneth Swyers as well as tragedies such as the cholera epidemic of 1849 and the Great St. Louis Fire.
