On June 9, 1876, Missouri author Mark Twain released a novel that would forever define the American spirit. Now, 150 years after the publication of “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer,” we’re hosting a celebration on our 19th-century replica paddlewheel riverboat, the Tom Sawyer. We’ll have 1-hr sightseeing cruises throughout the day, featuring special narration, stickers, a limited supply of cupcakes and more in honor of the famous book our vessel is named after.

The day will begin with a St. Louis Public Library Storytime event from 10 – 11am. The library will host the a free event on our dock with stories, songs, and fun themed around the story of Tom Sawyer and the Mississippi River. The event is recommended for ages 0-5 and free to join, but registration is required. Click here to register.

The first of our daily 1-hr St. Louis Riverfront Cruises on June 9 departs at 10:30am, with boarding at 10:15am. We will also have cruises at noon, 1:30pm, 3pm, 4:30pm and 6pm. We will celebrate with specially themed cupcakes during the cruises while supplies last (limit 1 cupcake per person).

There will be special Missouri History Takeover Cruise themed around “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” on the 1:30pm, 3pm, 4:30pm and 6pm cruises hosted by Amanda Clark, Manager of Community Tours and the See STL tour program with the Missouri History Museum. Our riverboat captains will provide narration about the Mississippi River, St. Louis and other local historical points of interest throughout all our cruises that day.

PLEASE NOTE that ticket purchase is required for St. Louis Riverfront Cruises, and separate registration is required for the free St. Louis Public Library Storytime.
